Same deal as every other weapon page you will find right now, except I am going to tell you the part they skip. There is no official GTA 6 weapon list. Rockstar has not published one. Every “all weapons confirmed” list floating around, including the ones with neat counts like 16 or 19 or 30, is built from guns people spotted in the two trailers and the official screenshots.
That does not make those lists worthless. It makes them a catalogue of what appeared on screen, which is a very different thing from a Rockstar spec sheet. So here is how I split this page: the guns clearly shown in the footage, and the new weapon systems Rockstar actually demonstrated. I last checked all of it on July 22, 2026.
Illustrative art, not GTA 6 footage.
How many weapons are in GTA 6?
Unknown, officially. The community count of weapons spotted so far sits somewhere in the range of roughly 16 clearly identifiable types up to 30-plus individual guns across all the footage, depending on who is counting and how they group things.
Both numbers are estimates from watching trailers frame by frame. The real launch arsenal will almost certainly be larger, because GTA 5 shipped with a deep weapon list and then grew it through updates for years. Do not quote any current number as final.
Guns actually spotted in the trailers
A few weapons are on screen clearly enough that the community is confident about them, even though Rockstar has not named a single one officially:
- A submachine gun in the MP5 mold shows up during the Trailer 2 robbery sequence, with a red dot sight on Jason’s version.
- A pump-action shotgun in the Mossberg style appears across multiple robbery scenes, and the screenshots suggest attachments like an extended tube, a flashlight, and a stock.
- A grenade launcher, used by Lucia in one of Trailer 2’s standout moments to blow up police vehicles.
- Pistols and assault rifles, the usual GTA staples, appear throughout both trailers.
Everything past that (specific rifle models, sniper variants, exotic gear) is either a blurry single frame or straight-up leak territory. I am not going to dress up a guess as a confirmed weapon.
The new weapon system is the real story
This is the part I can actually stand behind, because Rockstar has shown it rather than left it to guesswork, and it changes how you will play.
GTA 6 moves away from the classic GTA setup where you carry a full armory on your back at all times. Instead the footage and screenshots point to a limited-carry inventory, closer to how Red Dead Redemption 2 handled weapons. The signals so far:
- A satchel-style limited loadout. You carry a smaller set of weapons on you rather than everything at once.
- Vehicle trunk storage. Extra firearms live in your car trunk, so you actually have to think about what you bring to a job and what you leave in the vehicle.
- A redesigned weapon wheel. The wheel returns but reworked to fit the new carry system.
If that holds up at launch, it is a meaningful shift. You will plan a mission around your loadout instead of cycling through twenty guns mid-fight. Some players will love the realism, others will miss the old walking-arsenal freedom. That debate is already running on Reddit.
GTA 6 weapon customization
Searches for weapon attachments and customization are heavy, so here is the honest read. The screenshots hint at attachments (sights, flashlights, stocks, extended magazines) on at least the shotgun and the SMG. That strongly suggests a customization system exists. But Rockstar has not shown a full attachment menu or listed what each gun supports, so treat the depth of customization as expected, not confirmed.
Best weapons in GTA 6: can we rank them?
Not yet, and any “best guns in GTA 6” tier list you see today is invented. Weapon damage, fire rate, range, and recoil are not public because the game is not out. A real best-weapons ranking needs the actual in-game stats. When those land after launch, this is one of the first guides I will fill in with real numbers instead of vibes.
What is confirmed vs what we are still waiting on
Confirmed or clearly shown:
- Pistols, an SMG, a pump shotgun, assault rifles, and a grenade launcher appear in the trailers.
- A limited-carry inventory system inspired by Red Dead Redemption 2.
- Vehicle trunk storage for extra weapons.
- A redesigned weapon wheel.
- Attachments visible on at least a couple of weapons.
Not confirmed yet:
- Any official weapon list or total count.
- Official names for the guns fans have identified.
- The full customization and attachment system.
- Weapon stats, damage numbers, or a best-weapons ranking.
Quick answers
How many weapons are in GTA 6? No official count exists. Community catalogues of the trailers land around 16 to 30-plus, all estimates. The launch total will likely be higher.
What weapons have been confirmed in GTA 6? Rockstar has not officially named any. Fans have confidently identified an MP5-style SMG, a pump shotgun, a grenade launcher, plus pistols and assault rifles from the footage.
Does GTA 6 have a weapon wheel? Yes. A redesigned weapon wheel has been shown, reworked to fit the new limited-carry system.
Can you carry all your weapons at once in GTA 6? It looks like no. The footage points to a limited-carry loadout with extra guns stored in your vehicle trunk, similar to Red Dead Redemption 2.
When will we get the full GTA 6 weapon list? Realistically at or just after launch on November 19, 2026, once players can open the in-game arsenal.
I only put real, sourced detail on this page. For the complete rundown of what Rockstar has confirmed, see GTA 6: everything we know.
